For those who have never seen these turtles before, here are a few pictures I took 2 1/2 weeks ago in Colola, Michoacan:
We weren't stealing the eggs! There is a small turtle sanctuary on this undeveloped beach along the northern Michoacan coast.
They dig up the eggs and re-barry them within a fenced area. When they hatch, they gather them up in the blue buckets, hundreds of them at a time, then release them into the ocean.
It was pretty neat to see.
